Program Description: The Pre-Engineering program includes classes in Drafting, Computer-Aided drafting, Surveying, Foundations in Engineering, and Blueprint Reading.

Length: One block classes (1 credit each)

Employment Opportunities: Dealership technician; independent technician; parts store; service writer. Engineering technicians have opportunities in engineering, architectural, and surveying firms and may work in the construction and mining industries.

Opportunities for Further Study: Students completing these classes would be prepared for advanced study in drafting, surveying, and engineering classes.

Recommended prerequisites: A good background in mathematics with emphasis in trigonometry and algebra is necessary for successful completion of this program.

Articulation Agreements: College credit is granted on a course-by-course basis at West Virginia University Institute of Technology (up to 11 hours) and Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College (up to 15 hours); EDGE credit available.

Community Partners: Local engineering firms and state agency personnel perform in an advisory capacity for the Pre-Engineering program.
