Program Description: A medical assistant is an integral member of the health care delivery team, qualified by education and experience to work in the administrative office, the examining room, and the physician's lab.

Length: 1080 hours (2 year program - 8 credits)

Employment Opportunities: Clinical settings, physician office, and hospital business and admissions offices.

Opportunities for Further Study: Excellent preparation for someone wanting to become a nurse, physician, x-ray technician, or any position in the medical field.

Recommended prerequisites: C average in CATS 10; one year of keyboarding (35 wpm minimum)

Certifications: National certification through the American Medical Technologists.

Articulation Agreements: Mountain State University (30 hours); Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College (3 hours); EDGE credit available.
