Program Description:

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) program provides students with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for gainful employment and/or to pursue advanced education in the area of Early Childhood Education. In conjunction with the ECE program, students will be able to work with three and four-year-olds twice a week in the classroom, under Simulated Workplace. The hands-on experience provides the student with the opportunity to apply teaching techniques developed in the Early Childhood Education classroom.

Prerequisites: Prior to admission to the program, a student must:
  • Have a GPA of at least 2.5 or higher
  • Be recommended in writing by five teachers
  • Submit an essay on why you want to be in the class
  • Be in 11th or 12th grade
  • Schools will provide evidence that all students enrolled in the course met these requirements at the time of enrollment and that all students were recommended by at least three of the five teachers
